A True Test

Jason and I have made a decision, we have made a promise and a commitment to each other to do something and no matter what we will follow through with it.

Starting Monday, September 27 Jason and I will begin to train (hard) for a marathon we will be running January 13, 2008 in Phoenix, AZ. We will be running for The Children’s Tumor Foundation; which benefits research for Neurofibromatosis type one and type two. Myself, my mom, - many relatives on her side; and now Denver has Neurofibromatosis type 1. (NF 1). We are running for my family, but mainly for Denver.

Neurofibromatosis encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that cause tumors to grow along various types of nerves and, in addition, can affect the development of non-nervous tissues such as bones and skin. Neurofibromatosis causes tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body. Occurring in 1:3,000 births, NF1 is characterized by multiple cafe-au-lait spots and neurofibromas on or under the skin. Enlargement and deformation of bones and curvature of the spine (scoliosis) may also occur. Occasionally, tumors may develop in the brain, on cranial nerves, or on the spinal cord. About 50% of people with NF also have learning disabilities. Here is the website for The Children’s Tumor Foundation. WWW.CTF.ORG – Check it out.

There is a link to a search engine called GoodSearch – and it is awesome! GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results. www.goodsearch.com

Our race website will be up and running in a couple of weeks and we will let you know when it is.

Wish us luck and keep us all in your prayers!
Oh -

And have no worries, I will keep you updated on everything throughout the training program!!!
